Ali Abdel Qayyum – Summary (English)

Ali Abdel Qayyum (Arabic: علي عبد القيوم; born 1943, died 1998) was a Sudanese poet, filmmaker, and dramatist known for writing classical Arabic poetry. He belonged to the generation associated with the “Forest and Desert School” and the “Abadmak Group,” important movements in Sudanese modern literature. �

Early Life and Education

He was born in the village of Al-Reqeer in northern Sudan. He studied primary and secondary school in Sudan, then earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Khartoum. He later moved to Poland to pursue higher studies in film directing. �

Worked in public relations and as a translator and scriptwriter for documentary films in Kuwait. �

Death
